Stenli Kup završio u srpskoj pravoslavnoj crkvi


Srbija može da bude ponosna na Milana Lučića! Za razliku od mnogih naših ljudi koji, kada odu "preko", zaborave na svoje korene, reprezentativac Kanade i član Boston Bruinsa to nije uradio. Snažni hokejaš koji je rođen u Vankuveru odneo je trofej Stenli Kupa u srpsku pravoslavnu crkvu "Svetog Arhangela Mihaila" i podelio radost sa nekoliko stotina naših ljudi koji žive i rade u Kanadi. Prethodno je izložio pehar u Srpskom kulturnom centru u istom gradu.



- Bila je ovo sjajna godina za zemlju iz koje potičem. Predrag Stojaković je osvojio NBA prsten, dok je Đoković pokorio Vimbldon i Australija open. Želeo sam nešto da uradim javno za moje sunarodnike - rekao je Lučić.

Podsetimo, Boston je u finalu bio bolji od Vankuver Kanuksa - 4:3 u pobedama, a svaki igrač koji osvoji šampionsku titulu ima pravo da provede jedan dan sa Stenli Kupom onako kako želi. Lučić je za razliku od mnogih igrača koji uglavnom prave žurke na kojima izlažu prestižni trofej, odlučio da radost podeli sa svojim narodom u crkvi i Kulturnom centru Srba u Kanadi.

Stanley Cup dented after tumble in Newfoundland

ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland (AP)—The Stanley Cup is sporting a new dent after toppling from a table in Newfoundland.

The silver trophy was being readied for a helicopter flight from St. John’s to Bonavista, the hometown of former Boston Bruin Michael Ryder, when it fell over.

Officials quickly righted the cup during the welcoming ceremony.

Ryder recently signed a two-year contract with the Dallas Stars. He is the second Newfoundlander to bring the Stanley Cup to the province.

Detroit’s Dan Cleary did in 2008 after the Red Wings defeated Pittsburgh in the final series.

Ali ocito da Savard nije bio jake gradje, iako je bio majstor na ledu.. Da je rodjen pre 50 godina, verovatno mu nebi dali ni da vidi hokej na NHL nivou..

Ovako.. Barem je odigrao 13 NHL sezona.. Doduse, u cak 5 je imao 45 i manje utakmica..

Dobar igrač. Ne HOF materijal, ali sigurno top 10 ili čak top 5 centar pre par godina.

Marchand, 23, will earn $2 million in the first year of his new contract, and $3 million during the 2012-13 season.
Last season with the Bruins, Marchand picked up 21 goals and 20 assists for 41 points, helping the club capture the Stanley Cup.

Rumor Roundup: Ray Whitney Boston-bound?


Ray Whitney is in the final season of his current contract with a cap hit of $3 million.



Concern the Boston Bruins will miss the veteran presence of retired right winger Mark Recchi has spurred speculation linking Boston to a veteran left winger in Phoenix.

The Boston Globe's Kevin Paul Dupont tweeted Friday he'd heard “lingering chatter that Ray Whitney could be a Bruin.”

Dupont followed up in his Sunday column by suggesting the Bruins would target the 39-year-old Coyote, who netted 57 points last season, if their offense was negatively affected by the retirement of Recchi.

Whitney is in the final season of his current contract and will earn $3 million against the cap, a sum Dupont believes the Bruins can afford after center Marc Savard's $4 million salary comes off the books when he's placed on long-term injury reserve.
While Dupont suggested it would be better for Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli to “pull the trigger early” rather than have to compete with other playoff-bound clubs at the trade deadline for Whitney's services, he's neglected to address two key questions: Why would the Coyotes wish to move Whitney so early in the season? And would Whitney agree to be dealt?

Not to mention the fact the Coyotes would have to take back some salary or bring up an American League prospect to stay above the NHL’s salary floor.

The new season begins Oct. 6, so it seems premature to suggest the Coyotes would want to dump Whitney at this point; after all, he was their third-highest scorer last season.

Whitney also has a no-movement clause in his contract, meaning he'd not only have to agree to be dealt, but also approve any destination.

To date, there have been no reports in the Phoenix sports media suggesting the Coyotes are shopping players or that Whitney is even available.

Perhaps if the Coyotes are out of the playoff race by February they’ll consider peddling veterans who won't be re-signed, but if they're still in the chase, and if Whitney plays a significant role, they won't move him, regardless of his pending UFA status.
